What is this?

Interactive map of where Swiss municipalities host official email. Based on automated DNS analysis (MX + SPF) of all ~2,100 municipalities. Color-coded by provider.

Why does it matter?

The US CLOUD Act (2018) lets US authorities force American cloud providers (Microsoft, Google, Amazon) to hand over data regardless of data center location. Nearly half of Swiss municipalities route email through US infrastructure, raising digital sovereignty questions.

Who has access?

US-hosted email: US law enforcement/intelligence can access without the Swiss justice system. Swiss-hosted: remains under Swiss jurisdiction and data protection law.
